Kaua`i, Hanalei Dist., Kalalau Rim, N of Kahuama`a Flat, steep diverse lowland mesic forest. 990 to 1020 m. 3 March 1991. Wood et al. 629.
Holotype [PTBG]. Isotype(s) [BISH!, K!, MO!, NY!, US!].
Note: In cliff area collected with ropes; area above cliffs severely degraded by goats and pigs. 4 m long tree, reclined on cliff; vigorous, in early bud and flower; corolla yellow; leaves shiny, light green, forming dense rounded crown; total of 4 trees in area. No sheet number for holotype because specimen was examined prior to mounting. Flower of holotype in spirit collection.
