Description:
Rosulate plants. Inflorescence a sparsely branched synflorescence, florescences narrowly spiciform with rolled spathes. Cymule brachyblastic, interphyll present, bracteoles 2 per cymule, sheathlike. Corolla tube ca. 20 times longer that wide; outer staminode 1, petaloid; ovary with 3 fertile locules. (From Kubitzki, et al., p. 288)
Geographical Distribution:
Found in Panama.
Taxonomic Diversity:
Comprises one species, S. dressleri L. Andersson. Sanblasia is nearly intermediate between Calathea and Ichnosiphon.
