Description:
Rhizomatous terrestrial or epiphytic herbs. Leaves 3-7, long acuminate. Inflorescence a congested raceme, terminal on the leafy stem; bracts large, each subtending 1 flower; bracteole tubular, split down 1 side; flowers red-purple; calyx tubular, split down 1 side; petals linear, as long as the labellum; lateral staminodes absent; labellum obovate, 2-lobed, erect, the margins overlapping behind the filament, thus resembling a tube beyond which the filament protrudes; filament elongated, linear, anther crest minute; ovary 3-locular. Geographical Distribution:
Its one species, S. burmanicus R.M. Sm., is found in Myanmar.
Taxonomic Diversity:
Comprises one species, S. burmanicus.
